Running Calendar: Weston Creek Half Marathon, Canberra Marathon and something in between.
This morning I ran the out and back to Pine Is. A beautiful morning for a run. I ran the full distance non stop with only minor discomfort. Looking back at my training log I haven't done this run as fast since December 9 last year. A good sign of real progress.
I still have the Weston Creek Half in my sights but will really have to build up the speed if I want to be competitive. Last year my average was 4:35. I noticed on CR that the course for this years run has changed. I also received an email about the Canberra Marathon, entries close in 4 weeks so I will have to make up my mind what I am doing - the 42km or the 50km - decisions, decisions.
Tomorrow's run will be longer with some speed work on the flat. I am also looking at advice from Two Fruits about not doing any split runs. It will mean that I will have to run at 4:30AM and catch a later bus to work. So I will run 16 to 20km per run day. Rest on Mondays and longer runs on Saturday and Sunday and the occasional speed session at Calwell oval every second week.
