Running Calendar: Canberra Half - May, Googong Half - July and Jaggad Bush Marathon - July, Brindabella Classic - October.

Last week was a shocker work wise with the Budget being announced this week. Lots to do with no one able to make a decision. It made getting a run in difficult and no time to update my blog. Was able to run on Thursday-16km, Friday-11km and yesterday-28km.

I swapped tomorrow's rest day with today and will run at 4AM for the rest of the week to make sure I get a run in. Next Sunday is the Canberra Half and from all accounts it will have a huge turn out. 600 already pre-registered and given recent history many, like me, pay on the day.

A real test as I plan to leave nothing in the tank for this run. Would really like to run it in 90mins. I have done some good tempo runs in the last weeks and races always bring out something extra.

At the half, going all out doesn't mean not having a race plan. Good tempo training runs should lead to a good negative split run. I use to start mid pack and take it easy for the first couple of kms to find rhythm, speed it up when the pack thins out, then after half way, go for it using the tempo training you have done. Really go in the last 5 kms, as well you go past plenty slowing which gives you incentive to chase. Good luck !!
