The Sri Chinmoy Canberra Centenary 100 Trail run. After some good preparation I was sure I was ready for a good race. My first 100km trail, on home soil, I was confident that I could run between 12 and 14 hours. But a stupid mistake brought me undone within the first 10km.
New shoes which I have done a bit of training in became loose in the first 10km and instead of spending a couple of minutes to re-tie them I kept going. The other part of my folly was to not put vaseline on my feet as I usually do. The result was blisters in the arches of both feet.
So I was forced to get the job done as best I could. 15hrs and 30min was my time and second in my age group. I've had time to reflect on my race and there are a lot of positives to take away. I'll now start planning and training for the next big run. I can't afford to stuff this one up.

No need to beat yourself up. You still ran a good time over that tough 100km terrain.
You did well to tough it out. No fun getting blisters that early in a race. Good luck for your recovery and prep for the next one.
