Running Calendar: Altra Centennial Park 100
I ran the Tan 100 for the second time on Sunday. There were no PB's this year but I still enjoyed the challenge. My final time was 11hrs 17mins. The weather conditions were perfect again (I must be a lucky charm) and Brett, Rob, Whippet and co. did a magnificent job at setting up and organising this event.
I think I now know every rut, pebble and twig on the Tan track. The fine weather certainly brings the people out and that just adds to the event.
My run was going to plan nicely but came unstuck at about the 70km mark. I started the race in trail shoes thinking that the lower profile may be easier to get around in. Probably turned out to be the wrong choice. The rigid sole and less cushioning caused a blister to form in the ball under my big toe. It was deep and there was nothing I could do but put some padding on it and change to road shoes. 30km is a long way to put up with the discomfort of a blister, still this is where ultra runners separate themselves from the rest. Put it to the back of your mind and get on with the job.
I ran walked the rest and was very happy to finish under 12hrs. No point dwelling on what might have been, learn and move on. The Altra Centennial Park 100 is a bit over a month away. Another chance to get it right.

Any sub 12 hour for 100 kms is a great effort. Learning a little more every time out there is the name of the game. Well done, CP will be a great event to go a little better.
Good on you Michael. Well done!
Great result Softshoe. Shame about the blister but the slow last 30k shows you'll be 10 hours something next time.
We want good weather for the Melbourne Half weekend - any chance you might run that? :)
