This morning I ran my third Canberra Marathon. As was the case with my second....it rained. A strange start with the half and full runners going off at the same time in an unseeded start. Lets just say that some people should not overestimate their abilities. It was a case of pick your way through the slowies until about the lake foreshore. I was feeling good and sticking to a decent pace.
First ten done and still going strong. I maintained a good pace for the first out and back and then my glutes really tightened up. I just tried to put that in the back of my mind and stick to the best pace I could for the final out and back.
My final garmin time 3hrs 34min. I'll wait until the official results tomorrow but unless it's markedly different then that's a PB for this course. If I had of come in under three and a half and the track had been dyer I would have done the Ultra. Just didn't have it in the legs today.

Well done, good solid result. Rest a bit then look to the Gold Coast 100km.
nice work! must've been quite the squelchy run in the wet. yuck.
Well done on your 3rd Canberra marathon. It sure was drippy out there. Might see you at the Gold Coast 100km. Need to rest up first.
Just had another look and it was actually my fourth Canberra Marathon. Jog let me know if Gold Coast looks like being on your list. I would be interested if Kerrie and Pam are doing it too.
Hey Softshoeshuffle. I doubt Pam will do the GC100 as she is running Badwater early July. Not sure about Kerrie. I'll decide about my "what next(s)" over the next fortnight and will let you know.
That's a good time. You looked pretty damn comfortable out there. Definitely a good 5 minutes in the conditions - myself and CJ were wasting energy shivering all morning!
