Running Calendar: What Next?

"Some days you just have runs when everything all falls together perfectly." Well for me today was just one of those days!

I'm one of those people who like to plan carefully and do everything right, planning, training and pre-race prep. Beginning, middle and end as I tell my kids. The results will come if your methodical.

I had this race planned from a long way back and have done a lot of training in the lead up. Today was all about finishing what I started. My plan was to go out easy on the Apollo Rd down hill, attack Mt Tennant (up and down) and then tough out the Apollo Rd uphill.

It worked a treat with a time 15mins better than I ran the 25km last year.

Then treat the second half as a new race. Steady up to the lookout and down to the first down hill, run hard on the down hill to the turn around and then push out some solid run/walk to the finish line.

After all that hope I had got home under 5hr 30min. I smashed it!! I'm still on cloud nine, and to top it off 3rd in age category.

Thanks has to go to John and Carol and all the volunteers who did an amazing job and Two Fruits for being my chauffeur.

Fantastic run! You forgot to mention your actual time, but 2F said it was a tick over 5 hours. Brilliant. I think you're looking at sub-5 for 6' next year.
