Bush Capital 60K

Morning Run Distance: Sat 59:92
Afternoon Run Distance:
Average Pace: 6:22
Other: Nil
Weekly Total: 112:54
Monthly Total: 525:62
Yearly Total: 3339:92
Running Calendar: Fitzroy Falls - Oct

I arrived early at the start to see those in the early start go off. A cool morning, no frost so no need for gloves or beanie.

I started out at a nice pace not wanting to get sucked along with the speedsters. No problems with the leg to the underpass on Federal Hwy. The stretch from the underpass to the Horsepark Dve drink station was good. Loved the smell of the dead roos! I started to slow a little on the section between the marathon turn and the 60k turn around. I haven't run the section after Mulligan's Flat road and it was tough.

I walked some of the hills on the way back and ran the flats and downhills. Half way between the marathon turn and the Horsepark Dve DS I felt my hamstring tear. So I had to keep running so it would stay warm.

I finished in 6h 22min (unofficial), 9 min better than last time so I guess that counts as a PB. Happy with that as it shows that I am not slowing up. I will run some training runs on the leg from Horsepark next year.

All in all a great day. Thanks to JH and the many volunteers.

Tomorrow I fly out for Fiji for ten days rest. It's been a long year of training and racing.

9 minutes is a big PB in my book. Lucky they held it yesterday morning and not this afternoon - it was almost snowing on Mt Tug!

Enjoy the holiday, and a few barefoot runs on the beach.
